Mission Statement

Located in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood, MGAC opened in March 2005 with a cabaret entitled “Gay Broadway.”  In April of that year it was named “Featured Gallery” by the Historic Third Ward Association’s Gallery Night for its inaugural art exhibition, Tapestries, which showcased panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt and artwork by local LGBT artists.

Since then, MGAC has taken on unstoppable momentum.  It has staged numerous theatrical productions including the notorious and infamous run of “Naked Boys Singing!” that was unlawfully closed by the Milwaukee Police Department Vice Squad, only to be reopened and played to appreciative audiences in 16 performances.  Proceeds from its (second) premiere performance were donated to a local LGBT organization.

MGAC holds fundraising events and offers the community its centrally located space for receptions and meetings for nominal fees.  Beneficiaries of previous events have included ARCW and Center Advocates.  Milwaukee LGBT organizations including GAMMA, SSBL, Monday Night Irregulars Bowling League – HIT Tournament, Milwaukee Momentum, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center and others have held events or meetings at the center.  For more information about renting the space, please email us at milwgac@yahoo.com.
