NewTown Writers is a gay and lesbian writers' salon based in Chicago, Illinois, and holds fortnightly workshop-style meetings where members share works-in-progress. With a mission of fostering gay literature, NewTown Writers publishes the literary anthology Off The Rocks and the e-zine Swell.
Solo Homo premiered in April 2003 in the Loft space of the old Bailiwick Art Center on Belmont Street in Chicago. Over the years, it has moved to several other spaces, and is now presented in Milwaukee as a special encore performance. The series, along with its performance sibling, Working Stiffs, has presented a number of storytellers, monologists, & humorists, singers & musicians, dancers, performance artists, and more.
This year's installment again focuses on the performance of the written word and includes several NTW regulars: Cookie Crumbles, Timothy Rey, Mike Rogers, Josef Steiff, and Michael Van Kerckhove. We celebrate the Solo Homo debuts of Archy Jamjun and Sissy Van Dyke.
Co-directed by Josef Steiff and Michael Van Kerckhove.
Much of the material in the show is intended for mature audiences.
